First camera trap season completed in Korup

April 28, 2012

The first camera trap census in Korup started late December 2011 and ended in April 2012. A preliminary examination of the pictures showed clear differences between the first and the second array. Elephants were present only in the first array (southern part of the park) which is closer to oil plantations. Drills absent in the first array were frequent in the second. Other species which were not observed in the first array included pangolin, bushbaby, yellow-backed duiker and black-legged mongoose.
