Nouabalé-Ndoki Vegetation and Terrestrial Vertebrate sampling successfully completed for the two arrays in FY11April 28, 2011 This year was a second year of field deployment for terrestrial vertebrate and vegetation sampling in Nouabalé-Ndoki National Park as a TEAM site. The whole sampling period for both protocols started on November 20th, 2010 in array 2 and ended on March 24th, 2011 when we have completed our camera trap sampling in array 1. As with last year, the top story is the incredibly high number of photographs from our camera traps. The Nouabalé-Ndoki NP keeps beating the records amongst the TEAM sites worldwide, with more than 71, 000 photographs the previous year (FY10) and more than 66,000 photographs this year (FY11). Contrary to what we were expected and have mentioned in the previous report this year, the number of photographs from our site is a bit less this year compared to the one from last year. However, handling this huge amount of data from our camera traps will still remain a big challenge as well as for the site management and the TEAM technical support! |
