Researchers Conduct demonstration-class to teach how to work with monitoring using camera traps

December 2, 2010

Carlos Eduardo (Caca), researcher at Terrestrial Vertebrates protocol (TEAM Manaus), gave two weeks of classes in the course of Forest Engineering, Federal University of Amazonas. The goal was to teach general aspects on how to monitoring terrestrial mammals using camera traps. After the theory, Carlos made a demonstration with 10 cameras on a reserve northen of Manaus. The cameras stayed on the field for twenty days and were recorded 12 species of mammals. The students had the opportunity to participate in the process of installing equipment in the field, image analysis and learn a bit of TEAM terrestrial vertebrates protocol. These opportunities for dissemination of Project TEAM aims to encourage new researchers to use TEAM data, to conduct studies to monitor and wildlife conservation, and possibly discover new talents to participate in the work of our Project.
