Zone of Interaction (ZOI) Protocol

You are here

The ZOI protocol delineates the extent of the coupled human-natural system around a TEAM site that strongly influences biodiversity at the measurement locations. The ZOI is the area to be monitored for changes in human activities such as hunting, land cover, habitat continuity, hydrological processes and environmental barriers in order to support analysis of potential causes for changes in biodiversity at each TEAM site.

TEAM Zone of Interaction (ZOI) protocol in a nutshell:

The process of identifying the ZOI is based on environmental data layers and local expert opinion, in particular:

  • Drainage basin boundaries (watersheds)
  • Contiguous habitat
  • Human activities
  • Migration corridors
