Year:
2011
Quarter:
July - September
Unusual Events at the TEAM Site:

The mountain gorilla census is underway. The last census was conducted in 2006.

Protocol Activities:

Vegetation protocol

No work was done on the vegetation plots in this quarter.

Camera traps:

Both camera trap arrays (60 locations) were installed and retrieved. Image identification with DeskTEAM is in progress with difficulties. This is attributed to system failure in DeskTEAM. Badru is working with Kai and Eric to solve these problems. Some species such as the white bellied pangolin is missing from the species data base.

Protocol Problems:

Climate monitoring protocol

A second solar panel and battery were installed to solve power shortages. However, the climate station operation is still on and off, leaving gaps in the collected data. The cause(s) of these stops in the operation is currently unknown.

No problems with schedule.

Suggestions:

I suggest that the TEAM network builds a statistics help team to guide site scientists during their data analysis. Something like  the recently formed Eric's technical team.  This will ease the publication of TEAM data at site level.
