July - September
Communications activities:

Terrestrial Vertebrate Protocol was reported in Destaque Amazônia journal (September/2013). The journal is a publication that shows about the projects and researches developing by Museu Goeldi’s students and researchers. In the paper they talk about TEAM-Caxiuanã site and our goals in terrestrial vertebrates’ monitoring and preservation. It can be seen on:

Unusual Events at the TEAM Site:

In our way to camera 11, array 1, we found signs of hunting activities. To access this camera we use trails of plot 2 (vegetation plot). In the middle of a trail we found signs of a campfire and skull/bones of a howler monkey (Allouatta belzebul).

New Species:

During the third year of vertebrate monitoring, the Jaguarundi (Puma yagouaroundi) was recorded for the first time on camera traps in Caxiuanã. There were two records in Array 1: camera 15 on September 12 and camera 26 on September 10. Both records occurred during the afternoon.

Protocol Activities:

The climate data from July up to September were collected and submitted (both protocols).
Terrestrial Vertebrates initiated its sampling on time.
