Communications activities:

In August Trento Museum of Science in collaboration with Trento University both from Italy conducted a summer school training in Udzungwa on Field and GIS Tools for Assessing, monitoring and mapping of Tropical Rainforest Biodiversity. During this training Mr. Emanuel Martin, Udzungwa's TEAM site manager did give a presentation on what TEAM is doing to some of the Park Ecologists from Tanzania National Parks (TANAPA). In addition, the summer school had also been attended by Badru Mugerwa, another TEAM site manager from Bwindi Impenetrable Forest in Uganda. Mr. Mugerwa also had a chance to present TEAM activities conducted in Uganda to the summer school group. The summer school group had also a chance to visit one of the TEAM's vegetation plots whereby Dr. Francesco Rovero, Badru Mugerwa and I briefed them on how TEAM vegetation plots are being set (see an attachment for a group of photo of Francesco, Badru and Emanuel).

A total of 40 camera traps were deployed in a period of July to September 2013.

One of the camera traps was found to be stolen during the exercise of removing camera traps falling under array two. The matter was reported to the Park officials and efforts to search for the culprits were underway. A spare camera will be used in the array three to ensure a standard of 20 cameras in each array is maintained.
