The Site Manager gave a talk to graduate students of Conservation and Wildlife management program / UNA about TEAM project.

The Site Manager was invited to give a talk to the Monitoring National forum carried out by the Costa Rican Program of Protected areas Monitoring and Biological Corridors (in spanish (Programa de Monitoreo Ecológico  de las Áreas Protegidas y Corredores Biológicos de Costa Rica (PROMEC-CR).
This people of the SINAC (National System of Protected Areas – Environment authority) are interested in implementing a program of ecological monitoring in the protected areas of Costa Rica and to incorporate the results and recommendations into the management and operative plans.

They wanted to know about different experiences of monitoring in Costa Rica because they are looking for partnerships (academy and NGO’s) to develop a work plan. The current scenario of this initiative is to have an executive committee and work together with a scientific and consulting panel involved as consulting commission. The principal role of this panel would be consulting ad hoc in technical-scientific aspects of the program as well as an independent revision of the program results.

As part of the TEAM outreach, the site manager submitted two proposals for offering OTS specialty courses about monitoring of terrestrial vertebrates and forest. These courses have been approved by OTS people and will be offered in 2014.
