April - June
Communications activities:

The Site Manager attended three SINAC National System of Protected Areas – Environment authority) environmental and biology education to show how to use camera traps as a useful technique to assess biodiversity.

The site Manager attended the official presentation of the results of database of SINAC people working with camera trapping who use an adjusted TEAM camera trap protocol. This pose a great opportunity to motive to use the WildID platform to process and analyze data. This approach will be very useful due the incorporation of the camera trapping results and recommendations into the management and operative national plans of SINAC.

Unusual Events at the TEAM Site:

There was not unusual events at this sampling period

New Species:

There was not new species at this sampling period

Protocol Activities:

The climate data from April and June were collected and submitted in the new data entry form version 3.0.

The annual census of trees, palms and lianas ≥10 cm diameter in the 1 ha plot located at 50, 600,1500, 2000, 2400 masl was completed up to date. Our annual re-census in all 1ha vegetation plots have been successfully completed. More than 6000 stems have been measured.

We have completed the terrestrial vertebrates monitoring for our sampling dry period in array 1, 2 and 3. (low middle and high elevation). 60 camera traps were deployed. Interesting and new sightings of mammals specially tapirs, puma, ocelots and deers were recorded.  3000 pictures were processed on the deskteam. All data from Array 3 were already uploaded in the server.

Protocol Problems:

On April we had a problem with one of the T/RH sensor. After several attempts to find the problem, we decide to remove the sensor to check problems.

Schedule Problems:

There were not schedule problems in this sampling period

Logistical Problems:

There were not logistical problems in this sampling period

I would like to know step by step how to use the new platform WILDID in order to start training to people in Costa Rica using similar Terrestrial vertebrates protocols .
