July - September
Communications activities:

The Site Manager submitted two proposals to offer OTS specialty courses about Monitoring topics and TEAM protocols. The first course entitled MONITORING TROPICAL FOREST DYNAMICS IN A CHANGING CLIMATE was approved by OTS to be offered on August, 2014. The other course approved is entitled MONITORING TERRESTRIAL VERTEBRATES USING CAMERA TRAPS: Field and analytical techniques. to be offered in September 2014. These courses will be offered to graduate satudents and active researchers interested in these topics.

Unusual Events at the TEAM Site:

We recently have added to La Selva Climate Station in our TEAM climate protocols to access these data and upload it on the TEAM web server. This climate station is similar to our TEAM climate station with the difference that it uses another type of datalogger, it does not have double sensors for Solar radiation and, it does not use a fan. The climate station already have added to the TEAM portal and it is called VB-CL-3. Up to now we have uploaded data from this year from April 26th up to September 13th, 2013.

New Species:

There were no new species for this sampling period.

Protocol Activities:

The climate data from July 1st  up to September 12nd were collected and submitted in the new data entry form version 3.0.

Protocol Problems:

On June we had some problems with the precipitation sensor. After checking the metal mesh insect guard on top of the bucket we realized that water could not freely flow through it. We removed and clean debris from the sensor and now this is functioning well.  Fortunately it was not a problem with the triggering mechanism.

We following noted that battery load is less than 12.

Schedule Problems:

There were no schedule problems for this sampling period.

Logistical Problems:

There were no logistical problems from this sampling period.

There are no suggestions at this time.
