October - December
Communications activities:

The Site Manager gave a talk about “Long-term biodiversity monitoring of the La Selva Biological Station and Braulio Carrillo National Park. The Volcan Barva TEAM Site, Costa Rica in the symposium called: Conservation and Monitoring Strategies in Natural Parks. III Congreso Colombiano de Zoologia. Medellin. 80 people.

Unusual Events at the TEAM Site:

Two papers have been accepted and both are in review proccess. In the next months these will be published on Biological Conservation and Journal of Tropical Biology and Conservation.

The first one is a publication of many authors where are assessed more than 200 studies of species elevational distributions in the American, African, and Asia-Pacific tropics (including Volcan Barva mammal`s data) This papers is titled Global warming, elevational ranges and the vulnerability of tropical biota.

The second one is a research about the role of Local technicians involved in research projects.

New Species:

There is no new species this sampling period

Protocol Problems:

On December an additional solar panel was connected to the new weather station located at Plastico, The old weather station is not working propertly. All sensors except the precipitation sensor is not working. All cables were checked to find any conecction problems but it seems to be ok.

Schedule Problems:

We have completed all climate  sampling scheduled up to date. All climate data were submitted in the new climate data entry form version 3.0 on the webpage.

The project coordinator is working on a vegetation paper where all data from all censuses are being analized. She is also working on a p aper`s reviews that was accepted in Revista de Biologia Tropical about the role of local technicians involved in log-term research.

On October were tested the new RECONIX digital cameras. PC800 and HC500 to evaluate the performance of sensors and batteries and the humidity inside the cameras. PC800 worked much better than HC500. HC500 showed damage on the screen possibly due to the humidity inside the camera.

At the end of November we have installed both cameras in the same place together with an old camera to evaluate the performance of the sensor and sensibility and the humidity again.

Logistical Problems:

There is no logistical problems this sampling period
