Overview
Third Tropical Ecology, Assessment, and Monitoring (TEAM) Network Science Meeting will be held at the InterContinental Miramar Hotel, Panama City, Panama from November 4-7, 2007.
The Network Science Meeting will be co-hosted by the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute's Center for Tropical Forest Science (CTFS). One of the main objectives of this meeting is to strengthen ties and exchange information and experiences with scientists from the Center for Tropical Forest Science, one of the most important tropical forest networks in the world. The meeting will bring together ideas about the science, protocols, and data analysis generated by these two networks through a combination of plenary sessions, working groups, and poster sessions.
Participation in this meeting is by invitation only. In addition to selected individuals from the TEAM and CTFS Network sites, participants will include scientists from elsewhere in Latin America, and from Africa, Asia, Europe, and the U.S.

Working Groups
Spontaneous Working Groups are working groups that anyone can form, for any topic and for any type of group (e.g. taxonomic, protocol, site CTFS/TEAM, or regional groups). These groups should focus on scientific collaborations.
Each group will be expected to produce some type of product. These products could include: 1) An outline for a paper 2) A preliminary analysis of data 3) A workplan for multiple papers throughout the next year 4) A workplan on how to deal with regional taxonomic issues. Each group will need to designate 1) a facilitator 2) a note taker 3) someone to give the closing plenary presentation.
